Questions to Deepen Your Child's Comprehension!
Here are some questions you can ask your child about the books they are reading:
-Can you retell the important parts of the book in order using order words (first, next, last, etc.)?
-Why do you think the character did that?
-What does this tell us about the type of person this character is?
-How did the character change from the beginning of the story to the end?
-How do you think the character is feeling? What makes you think that?
-Does this remind you of a time you felt like that?
-Who does this character remind you of? (it can be a character from another book or a person in real life) What makes you think that?
-What is the lesson that the author is trying to tell you?
